Dear Sky ... very interesting dilemma you have there ... first what is worse the laziness or cleanliness ?? well perhaps one leads to another ....
Seems like you have adopted a man child oh how I do feel for you in this situation. This is very tricky indeed and there are indeed a number of alternatives ....
Let's start with the first .. treating the man child exactly for what he is ... from my limited experience I believe time outs are no longer in vogue but positive reinforcement is in. Find out what motivates this person ... being lazy this may be difficult but the natural candidates that spring to mind in this instance are ... TV ... beer ... sport on tv ... beer with sport on tv .... so maybe roll out the kiddies star chart and give him a star for doing the right thing and show the ultimate reward ...
Perhaps not ... setting a lazy man's reward with a trip to the couch could just magnify the situation. So here is option two .. the limitation of freedom ... start setting boundaries in the house .. no I don't mean getting out the chalk .. let him enter only necessary areas until he starts to improve his behaviour .. at least the other areas will be clean and out of reach .. make sure to exclude some of the good/fun areas too such as the TV room.
Number three .. financial pain .. charge him the going rate for an external cleaner ... raise his rent contribution.
Number four ... the ultimatum ... set it out straight .. say what you want .. and give a date ... no improvement kick his arse to the kerb .. at least he knows what to expect if he doesn't improve ...
Or perhaps number 5 ... hook him up with a girl .. play cupid and ship him off
number 6 ... find out if he has a phobia and play on that fear
and if all else fails .... plan to move but don't tell him .. plan the move day when he is out or busy .. and when he returns ... problem solved
... and remember you can always invite me around for an in house consultation ;)

Is there any key knowledge you can share with us about optimising attendance and ensuring everyone has a good time? Would you have any tips and tricks to pass along, an FAQ maybe, or perhaps even a related thesis?
The concept is an outdoor venue, complete with the type of BBQ and toilet/shower facilities you find at many camping grounds nowadays, nearby a beautiful clothing optional beach, so there is plenty of planning time before the weather permits.

Hmmm the ol' meet and greet .. did I ever tell you that the first meet and greet I organised was at a bar on a Saturday night that was closed .. well let's quickly digress.
Here are my tips:
- Make sure you have a post on the let's meet forum .. get the mods to turn it into a sticky for you
- Get into the chat rooms and start talking about it and letting people know
- don't over do step 2 ;)
- email those that you know will come
- try to get support from couples you know who can also spread the word .. as a single guy this is important
- give people lot's of notice
- pick a good venue ... of course make sure it is open
- make sure the meeting place is not too confrontational .. caters to the majority
- pick central location .. easy to park or get to with transport
- potentially have a place that has accommodation close by ... some people would like this
- keep positive
- don't assume everyone who says they will go will go .. especially single guys
- more couples than singles attend
- make sure you have a clear meeting place at the venue otherwise you spend some part of the night looking for each other
- outdoor venue is not a bad idea but yes you would need an alternate venue if the weather turns
- remember some people are shy so a nude beach may turn off a lot from coming
- have fun with it
Well if anyone else has some tips chime in ... good luck .. it's hard work if you do it right .. nerve wracking up until the first people show up .. bu rewarding
