So Bill Gates is no longer the world's richest man, and has been overtaken by a Mexican billionaire. To be honest I wouldn't know what to do with a million dollars, let alone the 53.5 billionthis guys got!
He's 70 years old..... how the fluck is he going to use up that much money?!! And how can it be justified with all the povety in the third world, and closer to home? :-x

As a person who wasnt born with a gold spoon in her mouth ---more like a plastic one ------ but if i had 53 billion dollars ---do u think i would take time out to validate to others how i spent it >???????It only seems unfair because its not us laughing to the bank --and in my field of work in welfare and throughout my circle os associate friends i have found most wealthy folk do give a lot to charities------ more so because its a tax right off---but hey who cares why as long as they do ------------------p.s. and if u asked him for 10 dollars he probably would have to right a cheque -as his money would be tied up in his finacial empire

I know what you mean about them giving to charity. To be honest I suppose that might be why Bill's dropped down the list, what with the he set up with his wife. In fairness it seems he may have actually worked out that he has more money than he's ever going to be able to spend/leave to his kids etc.
Which is really what my point is: Shouldn't there be something in law that limits the amount of wealth that someone can amass? I'm not saying lets make everyone equal and spread the wealth, but with 95% of the world's wealth in the hands of 5% of it's population, I just think it's a waste.
Anyway, that's just my inane ramblings.... which are not going to change the world in the slightest. ;-)

I just finished reading the autobiography of Warren Buffet, who keeps being bumped to the top as the richest man in the world. As a young fella, his father was caught up in the 1929-32 great stock market crash and depression, so young Warren didnt have anything to start with. He started off a paper round, getting up at 4 and 5am in the morning, delivering papers before going off to school. He would then go and collect very old company reports, like 50 plus years and back in those days they were mouldy, hard to read as computers wern't invented to scan the exchanges these days. Luckily he had a photographic memory, an obsessive urge to collect things and a desire to learn. he came from a dysfunctional family, was petrified of his mother, blah blah. But warren buffet had a vision and knew the value of compounding. So after years and years and years of researching he had a plan, was brave enough to take that leap and formed partnerships to invest in companies that met his criteria after following the Carnigie way of investing and treating people with respect. Warren formed partnerships with people, and only took a commission and those people benefitted from his brilliant investing technique and then put the powerful compounding to work. From very humble beginnings and over a lifetime of evaluating the stockmarket, taking risks and sticking to his formula while other people ridiculed him, Warren became the richest man in america, then the world. Should this man or any other man or woman be restricted in amassing their wealth when other people with less dedication, education, mojo, persistance or whatever cant be fagged to put in the same amount of time and effort that Warren did? The same could be said of JK Rowling who is the richest female author in the UK with the Harry Potter series. She came from humble beginnings but with her persistance and belief in herself, she overcame poverty and is now enjoying the rewards. People should be inspired to follow these amazing people and learn how to achieve wealth of their own, not bag them out because they got off their arses and did something for themselves. All you need is an idea and persistance to believe that you too can achieve great things...

I am wealthy and have achieved many things. I am not wealthy in monetary value though. smile and I worked damn hard to get what I have now. Kudo's to people who follow their dreams and work hard for what they want. I just dont give a shit who is the richest man in the world, or woman, and how much they earn and how they got there.
