Considering it's getting colder there is a secluded and protected bird viewing hut in the wetlands at the Barker inlet on the northern side of Magazine Rd. It's easy to get to, open up Google Earth and go to Magazine Rd north of Port Rd expressway, you will see a parking spot next to a gate there are some gas pipes and pumps of some kind, the easiest way is walk along the path that follows the road (dirt) about 500 to 800 m down the road towards the salt drying pans. For those in the know sometimes this area has lots of mozzies, just take a spray can and it would make the experience more enjoyable, I don't think there are many around at the moment. I think this enclosed bird viewing platform would be warmer this time of year and it would be easy to get at least 10 to 15 people inside at once. Have fun and keep warm......
