Hi all, We'll be heading along to a nude beach sometime soon and instead of our usual habit of sitting on our own the whole time we're keen to say hi to a few people and enjoy a chat. If you go to nude beaches, are you generally open to people just walking up and saying hi, plonking down next to you and sparking up a conversation? Or is that sometimes viewed as an invasion of your personal space and a blatant perve approach? Is it better to try to engage people who are strolling along the beach or in the water, so that they can easily move away if they don't want to talk?

never having been to a nude beach (but wanting to go) I would assume people lying on towels would not be especially appreciative of people plonking themselves down next to them. I would also assume people being active in some way (playing in the water, walking about) would be more approachable, as you say, simply because if they are not comfortable, it is easier for them to just walk away. I would go for a wander, hand in hand, ust generally enjoying yourselves and smiling at others - anyone that smiles back may be approachable. Being a couple, others may be more comfy than if a single guy was walking around. This is just me trying to be logical - something not really all that common with humanity, so I may be completely way off base, so take my advice, I'm not using it smile

Maybe we need to hold a Swingers Heaven meet and greet at a nude beach sometime. wink

We are not sure if a nude beach is a suitable venue for a swingers heaven meet and greet. Sure the merchandise is on display, but believe it or not, some people actually go to the beach to enjoy the sun and water and don't take to kindly to unwanted approaches. The other issue of course is maintaining the required decorum. Fifty blokes having a wank on a nude beach is not everyone's idea of appropriate behaviour. Nah tempted, not one of your better ideas.

Hi TemptedTwo & Haidee Whenever we have gone to a "normal" beach, you can spend the whole day not saying a word to anyone... and that's why we love the nudie beaches. They are friendly and very social. Being a regular at Sunnyside, we have lots of friends we always sit with or chat with even if we are not sitting with them. My suggestion would be for you to sit near other couples, whom are generally towards the centre and northern end of the beach. I would be very surprised if some of the regulars did not say hi. It is quite obvious if a couple or single fem want to be left alone as they will sit further apart from the other beach goers. Most couples get annoyed with single guys that plonk down just metres from them, especially if they are not nude! On occasion we have asked them to move. However, most single guys are very respectful of peoples space. There are always the "sharks" that head straight into the water as soon as any fem goes for a swim, they are harmless and just circle lol TemptedTwo & Haidee, we are going to Sunnyside on Tuesday (weather looking good) and you are more than welcome to join us. Just PM for details. TemptedTwo we are going with some friends who we believe you know... M&M! Regards D & C xx

Sorry D&C, it's unlikely I will make it anywhere - no transport and too far from Sunnyside. I am out in the far north, and don't finish work on a tuesday until , dammit. By the time I could get myself there by train, it would be dark smile Thanks for the invite though :)

Hi, we had our first experience at a nudist beach, sunnyside, recently and really enjoyed it. We found that people were quite friendly, a few couples walking up the beach had a quick chat and kept going. When we went into the water we were approached by a single male in a completely non threaten way and had a great chat for quite awhile. While we didn't have anyone plonk themselves next to us and start up a conversation, I think that it would have been ok if it were a couple as there would be less of a feeling pending harassment.

We have had mixed encounters at the beach some nice some not so as we often get the unwanted seagull effect which doesn't make it enjoyable day but then we have also encountered the solo shark who circles and then because your trying to be polite see's this as and invite to join us and trying to be polite doesn't take the hint.... how we see it if your solo you should wait for the couple to first engage you ie: Start a conversation or allow them to show interest just not plonk beside them and glare at them like you haven't eaten and they are a juicy steak. I know we are now going to get the what sign questions and if you need that answer you shouldn't be looking. if there is the cold silence or their trying to ignore you take the hint it would be the polite thing. also there are couple who only want to enjoy each others company and don't want interaction again if you haven't been invited DON'T think you are & if they stop take the hint they don't want to be watched, also try to watch from a distance and wait to see if they encourage you to come closer but don't blatantly stand in view of the whole beach start stroking yourself this only bring bad attention keep it discreet, We don't think full public display is appropriate either ie sex or even oral but for those that do want the seagulls watching try and keep in discreet so others that are only there for the sun can enjoy what they come for... and well we hope this helps The 2wild's

We prefer the gay end of sunny side because it sorts the men from the boys. Still had the odd wanker. We've always found nudists to be open and friendly. No problem chatting to people in proximity to where you sit or in the water. A polite "mind if we sit here" is generally enough to get a conversation going if it's going to happen. No we don't pick up at nudist beaches.

Obviously sexual play on the beach is not appropriate, but is it ok if someone else helps you rub in some sunscreen, even in places where you could easily reach yourself? ;)

Tempted Two,
I'm sure an 'invitation only' approach would help with this request. ;-)
I for one would be happy to help a couple with this...and I'm sure if everyone was willing it could be done discreetly..
Happy times ahead with Slip-Slop-Slap.

we find that the gay end tends to have more sexual activity, the gays seem to be more tolerant (perhaps because they are doing their thing also).
not talking about sunnyside directly but nude beaches in general. male half has been to almost all the beaches in the country and many in other countries.

absolutely, if its obvious and the whole beach knows whats going on then its a big no no and generally one of the sesame st crowd will more than likely step in and say something.
sunscreen isnt really a problem as long as its not being rubbed in until it gets rubbed out lol
we generally rub sunscreen on eachother and never had a problem.
just apply common sense and you will be fine

lol... I'm about to go do a shit, should I sit or stand, is it okay to breathe in the toilet, should I was my hands, is it okay to eat eggs that are one day beyond use by, if a stranger says hello should I cry and run away, can someone go to the bank for me, it's scary in there, the teller talks to me and I feel it's uncomfortable, inappropriate & an invasion of my liberties ?

Although some nudists are swingers, some nudists are very much against open sexual activity at their beaches. The reason is it tends to give the public the wrong perception of what nudism is about and leads to beaches being closed to naturism. Also it attracts males just looking for sex who hang around and approach unwilling people for sex. So why not arrange to meet at an isolated beach instead? Why does it have to be at a legal nude beach?

My only problem is.....if you are sitting down at a nudist beach and someone walks up to speak to you...where do you look??

Actually its true, I do try to hide it when it happens but I cause a fair bit of laughter sometimes, I dont mind people laughing at me.
Maybe I should go nude beaching more often?
