I'm pretty sure you mean in the context of swinging??? We have only been involved in swinging for 5 or 6 months but have already met a few people who's previous partner left them due to feelings towards a swinging playmate. Danny

I'm certain it happens in swinging, although it's not something I've ever done. But, then, it happens with vanilla couples all the time also, so I doubt swinging all by itself makes it any more likely. Ioannes

My personal opinion is that if you are coming into this lifestyle then chances are you aren't going to leave your partner if your both enjoying this together. I could see someone leaving their partner if it's not really something you both want to do or you aren't enjoying the lifestyle and your partner is.

Swinging is by no means a way to strengthen your relationship. I have seen too many couples get separated. It's very hard not to be jealous, you know. There's also the risk of diseases. Most STD's can't be cured. So before considering this you should sit down and really really think about it.

As much as fun it is, like everything else swinging too has its downfalls. Your partner can get too attached to it. The line between swinging and cheating is very thin one. The truth is that only a very small percentage can maintain the lifestyle for long periods.

I'm about to leave mine because she's vehemently opposed to swinging. I just don't get it. Life should be about sharing, right? Oh well...

I know some married couples getting divorced because of their involvment in the lifestyle. I don't think leaving your partner because she doesn't agree with you on swinging is not the smartest thing to do. Don't you love her? Isn't that enough?

Yes. it's very true. we have doing research for a month now and we have across several, infact too many people who had problems with their marriage..We have found only a handful of people who have been active in the lifestyle for more than a year. If swinging is that destructive..why do people do it then?

wow people actually left their partners? Now that is very discouraging news for me! I was so excited about this. Now you got me thinking again! Back to square one. I don't want to do something that would be destroy my current relationship.

Yes we have seen it where a couple we were meeting with regularly also met a single guy for 3somes , they both were very much into swinging and we seemed to have a good friendship both social and sexual with them over a couple of years until we found out she left her partner for this single guy they were seeing We have been in the swinging scene since 21/22 yo and are now are 46/47 and our relationship is still strong , we know if we go out playing who we will be comming home with and are open and talk about each experance with each other The main key is communication and openness between both partners for it to work To us its meeting nice people and getting to have some adult fun along the way Melbcpl01

Well said Melbcpl, we find communication to be the key too. We must say too that if a partner leaves a relationship after a swinging contact, the relationship was probably in lots of trouble anyway. Having been involved in family separations for some years (100s of clients) I have never been involved with a couple that were swingers, so I would say it is uncommon (in my experience). Besides, relationships don't often break up over one huge issue, it is normally years of drifting apart that is the real cause. We have very firm rules that we apply to our meets We always speak to both partners on the phone before meeting Always meet socially before playing We only ever play together Always advocate safe sex Fires
