We have a number of friends who identify as polyamarous, and have had poly relationships with varying degree of success & heartbreak. Each of them have had quite distinctly different arrangements, but all fall under the poly umbrella. We have also discussed an mfm poly arrangement, but there are no plans afoot, or even having met the right person. I guess it is an ideal, rather than an achievable goal, for us.
