Been there and done it, for a swingers club in sydney. Gone are the days where a casette of Super8 costed $ 10 and played for 3.5 minutes, gone are the days where people used VHS-C which gave good results with TV's up to 32 inches.
miniDV with its restrictions by using tape is ok for TV's to 36 inches. Todays lover of dearest memories records on miniHD or memory cards (class 4 or higher). However, also gone are the days where the results had been instandly available.
I am writing this for people interested in this subject, who may have questions or who need a camera person.
Todays industry has managed very well to confuse the crap out of the consumer and here is what I have found. Youtube and some tv stations refer to 720 as HD (high definition) and 1080 as true HD. Well, 720 (720 x 576) is indeed DVD quality suitable to tv's up to 46 inches and the quality of Bluray is still perfect at 55 inch tv's. To confuse things further, maufacturers are now making claims of HD-quality by quoting the vertical pixel count. Here a clarification:
HD? = 720 x 576 pixels DVD quality, pixles are horizontaly stretched!
true HD = 1920 x 1080 pixels, pixels are square
??? 1440 x 1080 pixels are stretched and of lower quality (Panasonic lite, Sony and Canon).
All tv transmissions are interlaced scan today which can only be displayed with a tube type tv, example 720 x 576i
All flat screen tv's can only display progressive scan and the interlaced signal is deinterlaced, example 720 x 576p, which gives better quality!
Todays HD-cameras record mostly in Mpeg4 and h264 for HD-quality. This involves conversion to Mpeg2 for DVD's. If the conversion is done with 9000 pixels/second, the quality on a 46 inch tv is outstanding.
A lot more fun is however converting to Bluray in HD-quality. Firstly, I purchsed the software to convert to ISO and UDF.
Then I purchased a Panasonic Bluray recorder which had been on special, just to find out that Panasonic and others do not use the standard ISO (but lay claim) or UDF codec, but have their own which is mt2. This is a Mpeg2 codec with 1920 x 1080p pixel resolution, the conversion on my laptop takes all night. The results are astonishing, one can see ever single hair (on the head). When you buy a camera, do not get fooled by the specified pixels, it is also the lens which makes the difference and this limits the zoom, usually 50 times, on my camra to 5 times. For true HD-quality of 1920 x 1080p, the camera needs 8.2 million pixels and should record at least 15 million pixels per second.
And now, it seems that every one is recording in HD-3D?

There are lots of programs which can do a lot to improve pichtures like "paint" from windows which is manual or "cam2pc" with its automatic functions but the best is to do it right from the beginning.
Put a nylon stocking or panty hose over the camera lens, this results in the smoothest of photos, often used by professionals.
Remember that the fabric will be out of focus, thus removing imperfections from the image.
Always use the lowest possible aperture setting to avoid depth of field. With a digital camera avoid reflections or pure white in the picture as most of them struggle in reproducing a grayscale of 8.
Never use direct lighting, where there is a lot of light, there is a lot of shadow. Always use indirect lighting by directing the flash on to the ceiling and open the lens by 4 stops.
Whilst black and white shots can give good results, for the nude human body monochrome should be used, either sepia or red light.

Dont consider any visual stimulation like videos, women are different and chances are that this could turn her off completely. Also, what you see in videos is acted and not real!
